Bernard (Bernie) Edwin Boerger Jr., born November 29, 1923, peacefully passed away on November 15, 2016 in Loveland, Colorado.

Bernie will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years which he affectionately referred to as his million dollar baby–inferred from the song “I Found a Million Dollar Baby (in a Five and Ten Cent Store).”

Bernie is survived by his wife Betty; son Robert (Bob) & Sharon, son Richard (Rick) & Carol, daughter Gloria (Glo) & Monte Prim, son Paul; sister Carol Gibson, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Bernie served as the US Naval Quartermaster on the USS LCI 604 during WWII. Bernie was an honorable man, family Patriarch, a great Father/Grandfather/Great- Grandfather, an amazing friend, a talented leader and an absolute pillar of strength to family and friends.

Bernie had a love of sports, travel, vacations, mountains and time with family. He was known and respected for his 36 years as the area manager of Marshalltown’s Job Service of Iowa.

Outside of work, Bernie was an avid bridge player, served as Grand Knight of the Marshalltown’s Knights of Columbus and chairman of the KC’s “Charitable Campaigns for People with Intellectual Disabilities and Special Olympics” (Tootsie Roll Drive).

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2016, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th St., Loveland, CO 80537.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Loveland Vets Club in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home

Bernie will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
