Craig Tomlinson, 69, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday morning, December 3, 2016 at State Center Specialty Care.

Memorial services for Craig will be held on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be before the service, starting at 9:00 a.m. Dr. Charles Thorp III of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Florida will be officiating the service. Memorials may be directed to either the American Cancer Society or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Craig Tomlinson was born on August 6th, 1947 in Marshalltown to Richard “Dick” and Betty (Neff) Tomlinson. Craig graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1965. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Telecommunicative Arts from Iowa State University. Craig served his country honorably in the United States Army from August of 1969 until March of1971 during the Vietnam War as an Infantry Statistician. Craig had worked at a radio station in Wausau, Wisconsin, KGAN in Cedar Rapids, Eldora Herald Index and at Van Meter Auction in Marshalltown. Craig was a member of the Damascus Lodge #268 and Albion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing.

Craig is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Morgan) Tomlinson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Jodi (Charles III) Tomlinson Thorp of Orlando, Florida. Grandchildren: Emery, Lane and Peyton Tomlinson and Alexandra, Charles IV and Brooks Thorp. He is also survived by his longtime companion; Patt Copley, siblings Pat (Les) Nichols of Albion and Debby Tomlinson of Marion as well as nephews Brett and Brad Nichols, niece; Kelly Nichols and 7 great nephews, nieces and cousins.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Betty and his paternal and maternal grandparents; Earl and Edna Tomlinson and Angus and Rheba Neff.
