Robert A. Ahrenkiel, DDS
With his wife of 48 years, Sue, holding his hand and faithful pet Lilli (dog) laying close by him, Robert A. Ahrenkiel left this world on November 30, 2016. A private man, he lived his life his way. He always cared for his patients the way he wanted to be treated.
Bob was born in San Bernardino, California on November 26, 1945, but spent most of his childhood in Marshalltown, Iowa where he graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1964. In 1968, he married Sue Lauterbach and also received his BS from the University of Iowa. Upon receiving his DDS from U of I in 1971, the couple moved to Washington D.C., where Bob served in the Air Force for 2 years. It was there, that son Chris, was born in 1973. Upon completing his military service, the family returned to Marshalltown, where Bob began his dental practice. After five years of Iowa winters, they decided to move to a warmer climate, so, Mesa, Arizona became home. He then began another dental practice. Bob enjoyed golf, snow skiing, traveling and photography. After retiring in 2011, he and Sue enjoyed several cruises and trips.
He is survived by his wife Sue; his sister Peggy Kukielka (Matt); nieces Angie Lira (Lee Jay), Maggie Smith (Matt) and his cousin Jean Clarke.
He is preceded in death by his son Chris (1988) and his parents Toky and Mary.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family, friends and several golf courses.
