Craig L. Petersen, 61

Craig L. Petersen, 61, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, as a result of a work related accident. A memorial gathering will be held at Vaughn’s Pub on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Craig was born October 3, 1955, to Donald and Joyce (Witt) Petersen in Storm Lake, IA. The family moved to Marshalltown in 1959. Growing up he faced many challenges but was cherished by his mother and grandparents. Craig attended Rogers Elementary, Miller Jr. High and Marshalltown High School. He should have graduated in 1974, but hated English class. He achieved his GED later, scoring in the top 2% in English. Craig was a skilled machinist. In his early years he was employed at Lennox. The past 17 years he was employed with Emerson/Fisher. He was an accomplished bass fisherman, pool and pepper player. He collected 1,100 movies. Craig enjoyed traveling with his girlfriend, Shirley Edwards. He enjoyed daily crossword puzzles. Craig often spoke of retiring and living on a houseboat.

Craig was loved and will be missed by his sister, Cindy; two nieces: Joanna and Dani. Two cousins: Joan and Steve, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce in 2005, and a brother, Alan in 1980. Craig was an organ donor.
