Nancy Lee Dickerson
Nancy Lee Dickerson died on March 21st, 2017, after a short illness.
Nancy was born January 2, 1938, and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel Albert and Minnie Helen Dickerson. She excelled in many of the GAA sports, played the drums in the concert band, was a cheerleader and the Homecoming Queen at Marshalltown High School! She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in English and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. During the summers she was a counselor and taught sailing at her beloved Camp Kohahna. After her marriage she lived for several years in Colorado. She returned to Iowa where she earned her Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Iowa in 1969; after which, she relocated to Bellevue, WA where she was a counselor at Bellevue High School.
A lifelong love of music and art led her to be a supporter of the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Opera and Opera Guild and a member of the Seattle Art Museum. Other memberships included the P.E.O. and the English Speaking Union. A special avocation was as a short story writer and poet.
For many years she was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Seattle and Bellevue and in these last years frequently attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church where she especially loved the music. Nancy has left a large bequest to the Marshalltown Historical Society.
She leaves a son Daniel A. Medsker; a daughter Virginia L. Medsker-Marmalejo; granddaughter Jennica Merica and grandson Justin Medsker.
Nancy will be buried in Riverside Cemetery beside her parents.
