Geneva Irene Robinson, 95

Geneva Irene Robinson, 95, formerly of Gilman, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Rock Ridge Care Center in Shellsburg on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., June 14, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown, IA. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., until the time of the services, at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow lunch, at the Gilman Cemetery.

Geneva was born on January 23, 1922, the daughter of Leslie Louis and Grace Elizabeth (Schultz) Powell in rural Unionville, MO. She graduated from Unionville High School. She married Marvin Harley Wood on December 18, 1939. He died March 20, 1971. She married Charles Robinson in September of 1974. He died in March of 1985. Geneva lived in or near Gilman most of her adult life. She was a stay-at-home mom until her family was raised and the worked as a seamstress at DeLong’s in Grinnell. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with family. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Gilman and was active in Sunday School and Woman’s Fellowship.

Geneva is survived by 4 siblings: Rowena Haas, Jesse Powell and Mary Roof, all of Unionville, MO, and Robert (Jean) Powell, of Chesterfield, MO. She is also survived by her son, Michael Wood, of Shellsburg, her son-in-law Ray Helland, of Marshalltown, and 4 grandsons: Brad Helland, of Bellevue, WA, Brian (Nancy) Helland, of Urbandale, Greg Wood, of Dysart, and John (Suzanne) Wood, of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to Marvin and Charles she was preceded in death by her brother Virgil, of Unionville, and her daughter Harlietta Helland, of Marshalltown.
