Myron Shetler, 93
Myron Shetler, 93, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare, under the care of Iowa River Hospice, in Marshalltown. Family graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, in Marshalltown. A memorial luncheon for friends and family will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Green Mountain Lions Building in Green Mountain, IA. Myron was born January 23, 1924, to Fred W. and Clara A. (Drury) Shetler, in Marshall County, IA. He attended rural Marshall County schools. Myron served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He served in the Rhineland Campaign. He was wounded in action on March 1, 1945, in Germany. As a result of his injuries he lost his leg, though it did not slow his active life much. Myron was united in marriage to Beverly J. Moore on February 28, 1953, in Marshalltown. She died February 19, 2011. He farmed in rural Marshall County most of his life. He enjoyed working with livestock. In his spare time, Myron loved gardening.
Myron will be missed by his three children; Dennis (Terri) Shetler, of Marshalltown, Kathy (Robert) Hipp, of Batavia, IA, Daniel (Wendy) Shetler, of McKinney, TX, seven grandchildren; Brandon Shetler, Amy Shetler, Rachael (Tony) Hughes, Joseph (Molly) Hipp, Robert (Maria) Hipp, Dylan Shetler (Chris Dwyer), Mariah Shetler, and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; a twin brother, Byron Shetler; a brother, Ben Shetler; four sisters: Mary Shetler, Ruby Shetler, Opal Ruth and Mabel Whetstine.
