Jerome “Jerry” Lansing, 66

Jerome “Jerry” Lansing, 66, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on July 31, 2017, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00 until service time at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Jerome Allan Lansing was born on March 20, 1951, in Guttenberg, Iowa; he was the son of the late Jerome Alois Lansing and Lee and June (Walters) Knutsen. He attended school in Cedar Rapids and then graduated from Oelwein Community School District with the class of 1969. He then attended Ellsworth Junior College, University of Omaha and University of Northern Iowa. He was united in marriage to Debra Howard, they later divorced; also he was united in marriage to Meri Ann Harding and she passed away. He had resided in Marshalltown and owned and operated AAA Septic Tank Service in Marshalltown. Jerry was a member of the YMCA and the Chamber of Commerce. Jerry enjoyed his work and was always there to make sure things went well; he enjoyed reading, and watching his grandchildren in all their activities as they were the light in his life.

He always enjoyed being with his family and friends and was the life of the gathering.

Left to cherish his family are his children: Brandon “BJ” (Tina) Lansing and Vanessa (Jason) Whitinger, all of Ankeny, Iowa, grandchildren: Taylor (17), Cole (14), Bre (10), Lansing and Rylie (11), Dawson (8) Whitinger; also Jerry’s parents, Lee and June Knutsen, of Marshalltown, Iowa; siblings: Peggy “Sissy” (Dennis) Heldenbrand, of Marshalltown, and Randy (Pam) Lansing, of Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews.

In death Jerry rejoins his father, Jerome Lansing and wife, Meri Ann.
