Marjorie Vint, 92

Marjorie Vint, 92, of Conrad, IA, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Oakview Nursing Home, in Conrad, IA. Private family inurnment will precede the memorial service. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Beaman United Methodist Church, in Beaman, IA. A luncheon will follow at the Beaman Memorial Hall. Marjorie was born July 20, 1925, to Clark and Gladys (Stover) Brindle. She grew up on her parents’ farm just north of the “Conrad Corner” on Highway 14. She graduated from Conrad High School in 1942. She then attended Iowa State University where she played in the ISU marching band for four years. On July 8, 1946, Marjorie married William Darwin Vint, of Beaman, after he had returned from the service in WWII. They farmed north of Beaman where they raised four children. In the spring of 2009, Marjorie and Darwin moved from the farm to Oak Estates in Conrad. Darwin preceded her in death in 2012.

Marjorie was a member of the Beaman United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Beaman United Methodist Women’s Club and a member of the Beaman Legion Auxiliary.

Marjorie played piano and enjoyed many types of concerts and musical stage shows. She never missed any of her children’s music programs, band concerts or sporting events. In the summers, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens and huge vegetable garden. Marjorie was always happy to offer advice and help with her kids’ many 4-H projects. She was an enthusiastic Iowa State Cyclone fan, loved watching Fred Hoiberg and thought he was the best basketball player and coach. She and Darwin attended ISU football games together for many years.

Marjorie is survived by two sons: Steve (Bettye) Vint and Alan Vint; two daughters: Jeannie (George) Macy and Jo (Charles) Bamford; two grandchildren: Justin (Susan) Macy and Andrea Macy (Jon) Harcey; three great-grandchildren: Aurora, Lorelei and Fiona; and three siblings: Wallace (Marlyne) Brindle, Francis (Frank) Patterson and Eleanor (Richard) Stromberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Marvin Brindle.
