Paul Jared, 83
Paul Jared, 83, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017, at his home and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home.
Memorial visitation for Paul will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Paul Jared was born on June 24, 1934, in What Cheer, Iowa, to Paul Hurd and Osia Wilson Jared. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955. In 1953, Paul was united in marriage to Frances Berneice Snyder in What Cheer. In 1972, Paul was united in marriage to Sheila Erdman in Las Vegas. Paul retired from Fisher Control after 30 years in 1994 where he was a tool and die maker. Paul was a member of the UAW Local 893 and was an Elite Club Member at Meskwaki Casino. Paul loved to go play the slots at Meskwaki and even had won a car there. He also liked to visit Las Vegas and, when able, he enjoyed working at the acreage and tending to the rental properties that he and Sheila owned.
Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheila. Paul is also survived by his children: Robert (Mara) Jared, of Princeton, Iowa, Jim (Kelly) Jared, of Manchester, Iowa and Peggie (Rick) Hempstead, of Manchester, Iowa. He is also survived by his nephew, whom he called his own son, Darren Janssen, of St. Anthony, Iowa, and thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren as well as other nieces, nephews and family members.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Osia, his siblings and nephew David Janssen.
