Wesley Don Hoover, 74, of Le Grand, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, with family members by his side.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Wes will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon. Immediately following interment, family and friends are invited to Elmwood Country Club for food and fellowship. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time.

Wes Hoover, or “WD,” was born on June 7, 1943, in Marshalltown to Donald and Inez (Rubenbauer) Hoover. He graduated from LDF in 1961. On November 22, 1974, Wes was united in marriage to Carol Kasal at the Chapel of the Bells in Las Vegas. Before retiring in 2003, he was a well-known and respected Marshall County farmer. He enjoyed spending time at the pond, going on fishing trips to Canada, golfing and playing cards. He also loved family vacations and, more recently, winter getaways to Arizona, Texas and Florida with Carol. Wes was a kind man who would do anything for anyone. He lived, he laughed and he loved.

Wes is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol; his children: Heather (Chad) Gould, of rural Marshalltown, and Chad Hoover, also of rural Marshalltown; his grandchildren: Gabriel Wesden, Carlin Faith and Mya Trinity Gould; his sisters: Janice Wolken, of Marshalltown, and Geneene (Vernon) Pals, of Clinton; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Inez; in-laws, Donald and Ruth Kasal; brother-in-law, Gerald Wolken; several close friends and many special dogs.
