Christel Tiger, 85
Christel Tiger, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
Funeral services for Christel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Faith Assembly of God with Pastor Dave Martin officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Following services, Christel will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Christel Kuntez was born on March 13, 1932, to Franz and Gerda (Buss) Kuntez in Berlin, Germany. She received her education in Germany. Christel was united in marriage to David Tiger on July 12, 1951, in Saalfelden, Austria. In 1955, the family came to the United States. Christel was an Army wife and the family had to move wherever David was stationed at that time. The couple was blessed with four daughters: Jeanet, Shirley, Rita and Karen.
Following her husband’s retirement the family moved to Marshalltown where Christel worked for Marshalltown Instrument until they closed. She also worked at MMSC for many years in Environmental Services. Christel was a proud member of the UAW, American Legion Auxiliary and Faith Assembly of God Church.
In her retired years, she enjoyed baking cakes and bread for her family and friends. She also loved to fish, bake, play cards, swim, dance and travel with her family. Her cruise trip to Alaska was the most beautiful experience in her life. Christel loved her new Country and in 1957, she became an American Citizen.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Shirley (Denny) Kutzner, Karen (Kenny) Ferrin and Rita Tiger; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David; daughter: Jeanet, grandson: Eric, parents: Franz and Gerda “Omi” and brother: Klaus.
