Michael Lloyd Peak, 70, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral service for Michael will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be on Monday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Michael Peak was born on August 9, 1947, in Marshalltown to Darrell and Viona Stier Peak. He attended Marshalltown High School and then went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1966 until 1969 during the Vietnam War. Michael was involved with the Corps of Engineers building the roads ahead of the troops; he was one of the very few who returned back home. Michael was united in marriage in 1968 to Deb Shepard in South Dakota and later divorced. He had worked for ACME Brass and retired from Lennox Industries in 2008. Michael enjoyed going to Maid Rite for coffee and was an avid bottle collector.
Michael is survived by his children: James Peak, of Missouri, Angela (Joseph) Leavy, of Marshalltown, Megan (Chris) Pence, of Marshalltown, and Jeffrey (Jessica) Peak, of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Kevin (Kristina), Christopher, Kandice, Brandon, Matthew, Micah, Caleb, Isabelle, Joshua, Hunter, Lilli, Grace and Roper as well as numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Terry (Sharon) Peak, of Texas, Caryle Jean (LeRoy) Smith, of Marshalltown, Tim (Georgia) Peak, of North Liberty and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Michael is preceded in death by his daughter Shelly Peak-Hoop and parents Darrell and Viona.
