Barbara Evelyn Tranbarger, 94, of Conrad, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad and under the care of Hospice Compassus.
Memorial services for Barb will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Barbara Loverin was born on January 27, 1923, at the home in rural Grundy County to Leonard and Bessie Freed Loverin. She graduated from Conrad High School in 1941. That year was very special to her, as she was later baptized on December 21st of that year. On November 4, 1944, Barb was united in marriage to Jon “JT” Tranbarger in Amarillo, Texas. On December 27, 1953; nine years after they were married; adopted a brother and a sister; Leonard, age five and Jaclyn, age four. This date was already very special to the family but now will also be celebrated as the month and the date that Barb went home to be with JT. Barb was a homemaker, farm wife and grandmother, which she said was the greatest thing in life. Barb enjoyed embroidering, needle point, cooking and reading and was a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Barb is survived by her children; Leonard and Jaclyn as well as four grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Jon; parents Leonard and Bessie as well as siblings Dora Stambaugh and Richard Loverin.
