Paul John Mohr, 89

Paul John Mohr, 89, longtime Gladbrook area resident and business owner, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 1st, 2018, at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where he has resided since April of 2013.

Memorial services for Paul will be held on Saturday, May 5th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Visitation will be on Friday, May 4th, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date to go to various charities. Born on August 10th, 1928, at home in Gladbrook, he was the son of William “Bill” and Martha (Carstensen) Mohr. He received his education in the area of his birth.

On March 22nd, 1948, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna Mae Schulz, at the Peace Church. They made their home in Gladbrook where he owned and operated Mohr’s Garage. Paul was also active in the Gladbrook and Tama County communities. He was past fire chief and longtime volunteer firefighter, former Tama County supervisor, trustee of the Peace Church, a Mason and Shriner as well as a devoted member and judge for the Antique Car Association of America.

Paul was blessed with five children: Dawn (Rodney) Lorenz, of Traer; Paula (Ryan) Busch, of Kansas City, MO; Bill (Jeni) Mohr, of Marshalltown; John (Leslie) Mohr, of Gold River, CA; and Joel (Tracie) Mohr, of Davenport, as well as 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: Robert Mohr, of Traer, and Doris Sievers Allen, of Gladbrook, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In death Paul rejoined his beloved wife, Donna; his daughter Heather; son-in-law Ryan Busch; parents Bill and Martha and siblings Marcella Boerm and Donald Mohr.
