Gregory Wayne Russie, 69
Gregory Wayne Russie, 69, died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Lutz, Florida, on Friday, August 10, 2018, after a battle with cancer. He was born on February 12, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Dale Eugene “Gene” and Donna Mae Van Slyke Russie, and he grew up in Conrad, Iowa. He was drafted into the United States Army in June 1968, and served in the Vietnam War as a Combat Medic. He later accepted two direct commissions into the United States Air Force as a pharmacist, where he retired in 2002 after more than 20 years of service, and then worked in the public sector. He loved his family, traveling, going to the theatre, and fishing trips to Canada with his brother and nephew.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 15 years, Shannon Reynolds Russie; daughters: Wendy Harp (Mike), Jennifer Cantley (David), Kristina Russie, Andrea Russie (Matt Rasmussen) and Jessi Nutt; siblings: Connie Ford, of Gig Harbor, Washington, and Cyndee Hilderbrand (Ron), Deb Stahl (Steve), and Barry Russie (Shirley), all of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Emily, Steven, Andrew, Tyler, Kyle, Shelby, Dillin, Nathan, Ryan and his newest love, Coraline.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Vicki Youngbear.
