Born on November 3, 1921 in Pierce, NE, to John and Magdalena (Seyller) Scheuerer, Marjorie grew up on a farm “as poor as church mice.” A one mile walk, year-round, was required to reach the one room school, with a horse sometimes available in the winter. After moving to Omaha in her mid-teens, she graduated from Tech High School in 1940 and went on to work for the War Department in Washington, D.C., during WWII. Her duties included typing letters to the families of fallen soldiers. On May 31, 1953, she married Archie Cook in Omaha, later moving to Marshalltown in 1962 when Archie became the Marshall County Superintendent of Schools. She was a homemaker and later worked at J.C. Penney from 1969 until her retirement in 1986. Marjorie was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. Margaret’s Mission, St. Paul’s Vestry, the Lioness Club and volunteered for the House of Compassion, Emergency Food Box.

Marjorie is survived by three sons: Jim Cook, of Mankato, MN, Ron Cook, of Marshalltown, and Larry Cook, of Des Moines, IA; along with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Archie in 1995, her parents and 10 siblings.
