Sharing our community pride

The Vision Marshalltown community pride vision is to have and convey a culture of pride and respect, with a reputation as a great community in which to live, work, and play.

One of the first community pride projects we embarked on is a video series. We started the project with the intention of creating a digital space filled with pride for Marshalltown. We wanted to show different areas of the community, show the community in a positive light, and show what community pride looks like. This video series is about changing the conversation about Marshalltown. Through these videos, we’re able to give proof of amazing things happening in our community.

The videos show examples of people expressing their appreciation and commitment to our community, but there are also a number of other activities happening in the community that represent pride. The new MEGA-10 park project is an example of a group of community leaders bringing a unique park experience to our community. The Iowa River Trail system is another example of leaders joining together to create the next best trails system in Iowa. We have past projects like Echo public art at 13th Street or the new Drills art at the Roundhouse. The Roundhouse renovations are another illustration of community support. These are just a few examples of community members stepping up to support a cause, whether through leadership or donations.

One of the amazing qualities of Marshalltown is that we’re a town that works together. It’s second nature to collaborate. You don’t have to go far to find someone willing to help a cause or personal project. We have a community full of talent and people willing to give up their time to give back.

Pride is happiness in something that is done well. There are examples of pride happening on a daily basis and we need more people to share those stories. It is our wish that all of the examples of community pride become staples of conversation throughout the community.

We will continue to share the positive messages of Marshalltown and have many great ideas for future videos that will showcase our wonderful community.
