Mini-golf event a great success
On April 30, the Friends of the Library hosted a first-time Mini-Golf Fun Night inside the Marshalltown Public Library. Activities included a nine-hole miniature golf course, a scavenger hunt meant to acquaint participants with assorted library facts and a candy bar walk. Food was sold and prizes were given away for holes-in-one and by random drawings.
The Friends would like to thank the following golf sponsors: Fred Wyngarden, George Taylor, Janelle Carter, Drs. Downey and Gantz DDS, Gary Schaudt — Sage Point Financial, Members 1st Community Credit Union, Deb Oetker — Wells Fargo Financial, Great Western Bank, Tele-Difference, McAtee Tire and Emerson Processing. We would also like to thank Fareway, Hy-Vee and the Lions Club for their donations of pizza and popcorn. Also Service Master, MCC, McDonalds and Taco Johns for their prize donations.
A special thank you goes to Sandy Gowdy for her intriguing scavenger hunt questions and the rest of the Library staff for their help with hosting this event. I would personally like to thank the Friends of the Library Board members, my friends and family who helped work and plan this event.
The money raised at this event will go toward funding books, materials and programming at the library. So for those of you who attended and contributed to the Friends of the Library, a big “thank you” and we look forward to seeing you again at the library.
