Poppy Days a great success

Thanks again to the community of Marshalltown for their generous support of the American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Days again this year. ALA Unit 46 appreciates the courtesy of Walmart, HyVee and Fareway for allowing our Legion family volunteers to accept donations by the entrances to their stores. A special thank you to all the faithful volunteers who again donated their times (many during cold and rainy conditions). What a faithful group we are blessed with.

Thanks also to the Marshalltown Center for allowing Arlene Kremer and her helpers to decorate a Poppy window with the theme, “Hearts on Fire for Veterans.”

We appreciate the makers of the poppies, veterans residing at the Iowa Veterans Home, and staff helping with providing poppies, not only for our unit, but units throughout Iowa. Thanks also to Rose Trent, a resident of IVH, for distributing poppies at the home. The Legion Post Home and Pro Shop at Legion Memorial Golf Course also distributed poppies and we thank them for their support.

Monies received from the poppy distribution are used solely for veterans programs. OUR VETERANS ARE REMEMBERED – NOT FORGOTTEN. It takes a lot of cooperation from many people to give our veterans’ programs a well deserved boost.
