Food drive a success

The 2017 Arresting Hunger Food Drive results are in. Eight-hundred and forty-five food items were donated and $314.71 for milk vouchers was raised during the event. As always, the generosity of the community and its members was exemplary. I would like to thank HyVee and Fareway for their continued support of this event and hosting it on their respective properties. Thank you also to the Marshalltown Police Department volunteers and reserve officers that dedicated their time and energy in assisting with this event. Last, but not least, a big thank you to everyone who took the time to shop or donate on behalf of those in need for this event.

The need for donations for the Emergency Food Box does not end with this event. It is a year-round need that anybody can assist with at any time during the year. The Emergency Food Box is open and accepts donations Monday through Friday, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at 109 South 3rd St. Donations can be mailed to the following address: Emergency Food Box, P.O. Box 391, Marshalltown, Iowa 50158.
