City and Alliant Energy need to do a better job

In 1972, my wife and I purchase our lovely family home on Jerome Street.

The following year, seven elm trees were removed from the terrace because of “Dutch Elm” disease. We bore the total cost! It was added to our local property taxes for several years.

At our expense, we replaced the terrace elms with hard maples, a Linden and a flowering crab.

Two weeks ago, these trees were trimmed so as not to impede the power lines. This week, the trees I planted were cut down.

My only notification was at my front door as removal was about to begin.

Great management by the city and Alliant Power Company!
