Quilts need for IVH

Thank you to the Iowa State Fair’s fabric and thread department for adding the Quilts of Valor class. Central Iowa Quilt Sew-ciety, located in Marshalltown, Ia. sponsored this class. Thanks to some very gifted quilters from around the state, six more Veterans living at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown will be awarded these quilts. The mission of the Quilts of Valor foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. The guild in Marshalltown is determined to award as many of the Iowa Veterans home residents as possible. Anyone willing to follow to follow the guidelines set by the Quits of Valor foundation can make a Quilt of Valor. You do not have to enter it into the fair. You can donate a finished quilt which can go directly to the Iowa Veterans home. Each spring CIQS co-hosts a rather formal presentation for these fine men a women who have sacrificed so much for us. Do you have a person from your home town living at IVH? We urge you to help us honor these persons, either by donating a finished Quilt of Valor or by entering your quilt at the state fair, where it will end up wrapped around a Veteran at IVH. Quilts can be sent to IVH — Volunteer services, 1301 Summit St., Marshalltown, Iowa. For more information and guidelines, go to: www.qovf.org or email: marvisd@heartofiowa.net
