Vote no on LOST changes

In 2000, citizens of Marshalltown voted for a Local Option Sales Tax (LOST), allocating 20 percent toward street improvements, storm and sanitary sewer updates. If these dollars are redirected to the general fund for use at the discretion of the council, what will happen to our street improvements and storm and sewer improvements? Where will that money come from? The updates will need to continue, however, citizens will undoubtedly see more and more increases in their water/sewer bills. The promise of property tax relief of an additional 3 percent annually ($27 on a home valued at $100,000) does not seem like a great trade off.
