What about driveway approach parking?

As the council members discuss the repair or installation of city sidewalks, please consider a related topic. That is, the common practice of residents parking a vehicle on the driveway approach (apron) instead of using off-street parking. Most vehicles are too large to fit on the approach without partially blocking sidewalk access and the rear end of a car is actually out in the street. A person using a walker or motorized chair may not be able to pass through. They may be forced to go out in to the street to maneuver for further sidewalk access. Children on tricycles or bicycles may also be blocked.

I believe we have a residential parking ordinance that states that there shall be no parking in the front yard nor at any point off the driveway. An approach is not a driveway. Off-street parking is available all over town. As a start, offenders should be ticketed to discourage this practice.
