A great day at Kids Safety Camp

On June 8, the Marshalltown Police Department and the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA held its annual Kids Safety Camp for second, third and fourth grade kids. More than 90 kids enjoyed the day, filled with fun and learning about different areas of safety. The day started with a Life flight helicopter landing with the pilot and medical personnel showing kids and adults their safety equipment. The day ended with a K-9 demonstration by the Marshalltown K-9 Unit. Many people, businesses and groups helped make this day a huge success.

We would like to thank the following businesses and service groups for their generous donations and sponsorships: Noon Optimist, Assistance League, Lennox, Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Wal-Mart, Marshalltown Fraternal Order of Police, North Third Ave. Dairy Queen and Adland Engraving.

We would also like to thank the following for showing the kids safety in their respected fields: Marshalltown Fire Department, Unity Point Ambulance Service, Stone Sanitation, Alliant Energy, Marshall County Farm Bureau, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (ATV safety) and the lifeguards from the YMCA/YWCA.

Lastly, I want to thank all the kids that attended and adult counselors that helped with the teams. It was a great day for all to come out for Safety Camp.
