Support the IVCCD Bond Referendum

The Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors supports the Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Bond Referendum being brought before voters on April 2. After researching the bond proposal, board members believe it will strengthen our community through support of both workforce and STEM education initiatives.

Workforce: The bond will allow expansion of IVCCD’s job training/retraining programs. These programs help provide a steady flow of trained, qualified workers needed to ensure thriving local business and industry.

STEM education: Passage of the referendum will also allow expansion and improvement of education in STEM-related fields. This will expand job training in the vital fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — supplying needed employees for local businesses/industries and providing quality jobs for community members.

A strong community college is a vital component of a vibrant, growing community with a healthy business and industry base and prosperous community members.
