Reinbeck brewery update
May 11, 2011 - Bennet Goldstein
I just checked in with Trevor Schellhorn to see how the progress is going on his new brewery in downtown Reinbeck, known as Broad Street Brewing Company. He said they are still on track for the July 4 grand opening of the brewery and will have things going on that weekend leading up to the fourth as well. “I think we are going to cut it close but so far things are looking good,” Schellhorn said. A few construction projects are still left to be done but beer has flowed out of his equipment that was shipped from London and arrived earlier this year. “We did a test batch two weeks ago, which we enjoyed ourselves since we are not licensed to sell yet,” Schellhorn said. A new sign now hangs outside the shop recently also marking the progress. He said the sign has already attracted interest and people walking in, though they are not ready to serve just yet. Initially, Schellhorn hopes to sell draft beer but then move into the bottling and shipping phases later on.
