Enjoy life while it lasts

September 3, 2011 - Luke Stalzer
If you can't already tell, I have been on a hiatus from blogging. A long one at that. It feels like I have time to breathe now after school starting up and my big 18th birthday (that's right, I'm an adult...) and the mountains of stories and homework I've been working on.

It's hard to believe that I am alread a senior in high school. It seems like just yesterday I was walking into my first day of kindergarten at Franklin Elementary. I don't think I took it very well, because I remember balling and not being able to let go of my dad...embarrassing...I know. Especially when there was a cute girl right next to me.

The most memorable year of elementary school was probably 5th grade. We were all so excited to move on to a bigger and better place, but also nervous at the same time because we had no idea on what to expect about middle school. Also, toward the end of the year, we made a huge miniature golf course in different teams. Parents came to help (and spent all of their money on the supplies) and it was a great way to end one chapter and celebrate another.

Middle school wasn't all it was cracked up to be. For one, there was no air conditioning. Two, it was the year that all of the construction was going on, so hammers and power drills overpowered the soft voice of Mrs. Brant-Ahn. Three, it was more challenging. It wasn't just multiplying and dividing two numbers anymore...they added letters! I do have to say that it was pretty exciting being the last sixth grade class at Miller.

Then it was off to the high school. I knew it wouldn't be as bad as other years, because the had just combined both middle schools so we knew everyone that was in our class. The first couple of weeks of ninth grade were intimidating. Everything and everyone was so big and I kept getting lost, later to find out that each hallway was a subject and it's just a giant square. Sophomore year was probably the hardest year for me just be cause of Advanced Biology with Mr. Heying. I have since forgiven him, but the way he grades SUCKS.

Now here I am...a senior in high school. It's hard to believe how time literally flies past us. This is probably the most important year of my schooling so far, and I already feel like I have a huge case of senioritis.

My point isn't to sit here and stress to you how the last 13 years of my life have gone. The point is that time goes by way too fast and your whole life can change before your eyes. Cherish your time in school...it won't last forever and then what do we have to look forward to? THE REAL WORLD?! Yeah...don't rush life.

Remember, slow and steady wins the race.
