Boys basketball district assignments

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released the district assignments in Class 1A and 2A for the boys' basketball postseason.

Districts in Class 2A each consist of six teams.

West Marshall, which enters the week 11-0 and is likely to remain at No. 1 in The Associated Press rankings later today, is in District 14. Also in the district is rival North Polk. The Comets played the Trojans to a two-point game on Jan. 3 in Alleman.

District 14's Substate 7 partner, District 13, is highlighted by PCM. The Mustangs defeated West Marshall in last year's substate game.

South Hardin is in District 5, while BCLUW and East Marshall are assigned to District 14.

Each Class 1A district has 10 or 11 teams.

District 12 includes area teams Colo-NESCO, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, GMG, Grundy Center, Meskwaki Settlement and North Tama.

AGWSR is in District 8.

The pairings for the districts will be released during the week of Jan. 30.

Play begins on Feb. 13.
