Welcome to the first Gamer's Domain!

January 30, 2012 - Levi Castle
Hello Times-Republican readers! My name is Levi Castle, and I will be posting a blog specifically concerning the world of video games from time to time. Anyone who has anything to do with video games, or even the entire world of technology, should feel right at home when reading my posts!

I think it would be a good idea for me to let you know some things about myself:

As a huge fan of anything having to do with technology, I truly have spent my life investing my time and money into what I love to do: game.

I'm 18 years old and currently a 2nd-year student at Marshalltown Community College, and I graduated Marshalltown High School in the spring of 2011. While in high school, I got a year of MCC credits under my belt so I could save myself quite a bit of academic time. If you're reading this and you are in a school with the opportunity for dual-credit classes, DO IT! It's one of the smartest things you can do that will greatly affect the rest of your life!

Anyway, I'll be graduating from MCC in spring 2012 with an AA degree. I have been accepted to Iowa State University, where I wish to pursue a major in Journalism, with perhaps a minor in computers. One can hope!

I own a new Toshiba Qosmio gaming computer that I bought for myself after graduation, and I love to also game on my 46" TV using my Xbox 360.

Yea, gaming can cost a lot of money. But you know what? If you spend your money on something you love, I don't think there's any cost at all. Kind of like "If your job is what you love, you won't work a day in your life."

What I want to do "when I grow up" is be a writer for a company that specializes in reviewing electronics. When thinking of examples for this, the most common one that comes to mind is Consumer Reports. While I would love to work for a company like them, my dream job would be for any gaming magazine, like the famous 'Gameinformer' company. I want to be the guy who plays a video game, tests a television, or tries a computer and then write about it for the world to read. People say I'm a good writer, and so I've decided to follow that talent and merge it with my passion for technology.

I am currently working as a correspondent for the Times Republican and as a concessions worker at the Orpheum Theater center. I love both my jobs, and I think they both have their own way of preparing me for the world after college.

I hope to post in this blog about every week with some of the top stories in the news regarding technology, along with my opinions about them. For example, if I'm really stoked about a new game coming out, you can bet I'll write about it! Thanks for reading my rambles, and next time I post, you can expect to see the first actual Gamer's Domain blog with the most current info and what mattered to me the most!

Cheers,

Levi Castle epicgamer93@gmail.com

@EarlHaffler Good job, you got the joke. I didn't put the *sarcasm* there because it was quite blatantly sarcasm.

@GoBallState Yeah, I bet the PSN being down meant he couldn't play his offline games... haha, I'm a retard and am clueless about gaming, and life in general.

But seriously, Halo is a pretty cool guy...

PC gaming is no where close to being dead. There are tens of millions of people that still play PC games online.

@AngryWhiteMan I bet you were playing a whole bunch of games online when PSN was down for 3 months.

"You know why they call it a 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away."

Ummm, in order to walk AWAY, you would need to turn only 180 degrees. Turning 360 degrees would be turning in a complete circle and facing the SAME direction. Ah, blasted details!

PC gaming is dead, just remember that in future articles. PC gaming is barely hanging on a thread with people playing Angry Birds in Google Chrome for free... that's what it has become.

@AngryWhiteMan I guess it's too bad that the PS3 has no games.

Levi, Game Informer is not a company, it is a publication owned and ran by GameStop Corp. Anyways, it's a nice article.
