'Hugo' a nice escape

March 2, 2012 - Bennet Goldstein
I just got done watching "Hugo," the award-winning film from Martin Scorsese which just came out on DVD.

I can honestly say it's the best movie I've seen in several months and the best of the Oscar-nominated films I've seen so far (Haven't taken in "The Artist" but I have seen "Moneyball," "The Help" and "Midnight in Paris.")

If one of the reasons you watch films is to get lost in them, "Hugo" is perfect for you. It didn't hit me emotionally but did suck me in with its imagery, storyline and music.

I give it a 9 out of 10 and would put it in the stratosphere of "The King's Speech." In another year, it could have won the Oscar, but it looks like it took the silver.
