| | Hoiberg vs. JordanApril 18, 2012 - Andrew PotterWhile in town speaking at the Marshalltown Community College career expo Tuesday, Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg shared a story about guarding Michael Jordan. Hoiberg, who was a rookie for the Indiana Pacers, said it was during a game late in the regular season and the seeds had already been wrapped up when they took on Jordan's Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Late in the game, it was up to Hoiberg to guard Jordan as His Airness attempted a shot to try to win the game. "I'm a rookie and I'm guarding the best player to ever play the game," he said. Hoiberg raised his hand to contest the shot and Jordan's attempt missed and the Pacers won the game. "We beat the Chicago Bulls because I shut down Michael Jordan," Hoiberg said jokingly. Jordan go the last laugh as the Bulls ended up beating the Pacers in the playoffs en route to one of their six NBA titles. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
