Iowa Valley plans for $238,653 FEMA check

It’s been four years behind, but the Iowa Valley Community College District is set to receive a check from FEMA from the 2008 flood at the Iowa Valley-Grinnell campus.

The claim was put in for $170,000, but it appears Iowa Valley is set to get $238,653 from FEMA. Kathy Pink, chief financial officer with Iowa Valley, said at Wednesday’s Iowa Valley board meeting headway has been made on getting the money from FEMA.

“We’re looking forward to getting the check,” Pink said.

The college has since completed a flood mitigation project at the Grinnell campus.
