It never gets old
November 28, 2012 - Pam Rodgers
I’ve blogged about my family’s Thanksgiving traditions in the past. I honestly can’t say enough about them. The whole gang convened yet again this year to share food and joy at my Grandma’s house in Montezuma.
Nothing out the ordinary happened this year. It was just a great day spent with the family. My youngest cousins are getting old enough now to be included in all of our traditions, including throwing rolls from one end of the table to another.
After our noon meal, we break off into our “groups” and talk about what’s new in our lives. The men go watch football while the women clean up after the feast (it’s stereotypical but we don’t care!).
A big game of rummy is always on the agenda after we’ve had our pie and looked at all the ads for the upcoming sales.
The biggest entertainment are the two littlest members of the group. I have two second cousins around the age of 1 that tend to “show off” when surround by everyone. It was adorable to see what they would get into next and just how much rope their parents and grandparents would give them.
It’s such a special time of year. Now all I have left to do is look forward to Christmas when the whole group will get back together again.
