Kinda ready for football season
July 14, 2013 - Wes Burns
Yeah, it's only July and it was just Independence Day a couple weeks ago but I'm pretty much ready for football season to start.
Maybe it's because I know the start of football season is the herald of cooler weather, the kind of weather that doesn't make me fear opening the door to my sun-soaked black car.
Maybe it's because basketball and hockey have both ended and I'm tired of seeing baseball on every channel, every day, all the time.
Maybe it's because I'd prefer to see stories about NFL players that don't feature the police in some capacity.
Mostly it's the weather. That and football is actually fun to watch, and with the lack of summer Olympics to keep everyone distracted by pretending to like competitive swimming, there is very little summer sports on TV worth watching.
Apologies to the baseball fans out there, but I just can't get into it.
Whatever the case it seems that the NFL has once again rejected my petition for a 12 month season and we'll be forced to wait until fall. Until then I'll do my best to recreate the anticipated joy of the upcoming season: playing Madden on my Xbox, setting my air conditioning to "crisp fall evening" and eating chili. Just a few more weeks...
