College radio show was a blast
September 3, 2013 - Bennet Goldstein
I recently was thinking about a time in my college days when a couple of friends and I had our own radio show on Sunday afternoons. It was a blast as we could play the music we wanted, talk about how our weekend went and had free reign of the airwaves for a couple of hours. A few of the best shows we had were when we enlisted a “roving reporter” around campus. He reported live from the opening of a restaurant on campus and we also tried to have a contest to win a date with this “roving reporter.” Of course our listener list was not big, but every once in awhile we would get some calls into the studio from people who were actually listening. We learned how to run a radio soundboard and were especially crafty when one of our special guests might accidentally say a curse word on air. It was a great experience, which is why I encourage other college students to get involved in as many things as they can to be a more active student.
