Vulnerable to KitKats and carmel apples

Several weeks ago, I wrote of my addiction to Gummy Bears, the multi-colored, jello-like candies.

I shared how I like to keep a bag in my car for long or short road trips.

The blog had an immediate impact — a co-worker commented and my better half bought me a large bag of the goodies. Only but a few remain now, and they are safely in the car, ready for the next trip.

But fate, like lightning, struck again. And not once, but twice.

I have two more addictions to report. My latest cravings are for the bite-size KitKat bars and carmel apples from Marshalltown’s Appleberry Farm.

Seeing several bite-size KitKats free, and for the taking by my cubicle, was too much to resist. Taking one lead to another, then another and more. The white chocolate variety is my favorite, followed closely by the regular chocolate.

Of course, I’m deluding myself in thinking there are not many calories in the bite-size variety. But I must be honest — they add up and quickly. I'm also fooling myself into believing that I'm only "renting" them, and that I'll sweat them off at my next workout.

Now the carmel apples are especially hard to resist on fall days. I’ve been out to Appleberry twice within the last two weeks and returned home with several each time. The combination of carmel and a crisp apple is tough to resist — right up there with another deadly combo — peanut butter and chocolate.

Here’s hoping someone doesn’t think of dipping apples into a tub of melted KitKat bars.

Three addictions are enough.
