Fa la la la let's listen to Christmas music

November 7, 2013 - Brett Van Waus
I was back in Des Moines last weekend and flipped on my radio to Capitol 106.3. To my surprise I heard Christmas music playing, it was Nov. 1. As a jolly Christmas music listener, I was a little ecstatic when I heard the bells bellowing out of the speakers of my car, although some of those who heard those same bells may not have felt the same. Some people think it’s to early for Christmas music to hit the radio waves, I disagree. Yes, I am still eating my Halloween sweets, but at the same time the store I just bought the discounted Halloween sweets at made room for Christmas trees and lights. Marshalltown is also beginning to look a lot like Christmas too. On my short commute to work I pass a house with Christmas lights on it and Santa and his reindeer flying between Fisher and Emerson on Center Street. The courthouse lawn is also looking festive with an enormous Christmas tree. The holiday season is a wonderful time of year and if a station wants to play Christmas music now, 'tis the season.
