New Year, same resolution

December 31, 2013 - Stephanie Ivankovich
It happens every year. The ball drops in New York, a year went by and absolutely nothing seems to have changed. On New Year’s Eve of last year, sometime in the afternoon, I was enjoying wings, watching a football game at Jethro’s by Drake University, in Des Moines and planning the night with my friends. As I was sitting at that table with my friends I was thinking about my night’s outfit, not where I would be a year later. Never would I have imagined I would be living in Marshalltown, Iowa and working at a job I love. It just goes to show you, a lot can change without a person even realizing it. 2013 was a great year. In addition to working somewhere I truly enjoy, I graduated college, made life-long friends and lost more than 30 lbs., those were not my New Year’s resolutions. Last year I didn’t have resolutions, so this year I decided to write down a couple. Some were more serious, like forcing myself to run two miles every day and others were silly, like post on Instagram less. I really thought about it and threw away the list. My New Year’s resolutions do not need to be written down, it’s a mind set. I’m going to continue to work hard and become a better person, I figure the rest will just come with it.

Happy New Years
