Two more Bobcats extend athletic careers to college

June 7, 2014 - Andy Heintz
Two more Marshalltown High School athletes will extend their careers to the collegiate level.

Austin Sowers will attend AIB next season and plans on playing on the baseball team, according to his father. Sowers was the Bobcats' top receiver during the football season and is currently Marshalltown's clean-up hitter, shortstop and starting pitcher on the baseball squad.

The Times-Republican also got confirmation from Iowa Central Community College recently that Sam Smith will play for the Triton women's soccer team next season and will be on scholarship.

Smith will join the Bobcats' top goal scorer Lexi Vaughn on the roster. Two other soccer players also will move on to play in college. Taylor Vaudt and Morgan Gardalen will be future rivals at Simpson College and Central College, respectively.
