August 9, 2014 - Andy Heintz
The Marshalltown football team will give the community a first look of the 2014 squad when the Bobcats take part in the Blue-White Classic at Leonard Cole Field on Aug. 22.
The event is free as long as you donate a non-perishable food item that will be sent to the Marshall County Food Pantry or a non-perishable dog/cat food or cat litter that will be donated to the Animal Rescue League.
The night begins with a fall sports kick off address from MHS Activities Director Craig Huegel at 5 p.m.
The freshmen football team plays its two 15-minute quarters starting at 5:45 p.m. and then the third through sixth grade Marshalltown Football League group will take the field and play 1 15-minute continual clock quarter at 6:15.
The Bobcat varsity team will take the field for pre-game warm up at 6:45 and play the Blue-White Classic at 7:30. The game will feature two 20-minute quarters and will be preceded by the National Anthem from the high school band at 7:15.
The Marshalltown High School cheerleaders will be face painting and assisting with the donations, while the Booster Club will be grilling and the concession stand will be open.
The Bobcats begin fall practice Monday evening. The regular season opener will be against Waterloo East at Leonard Cole Field on Aug. 29.
