O'Brien's debut is genuine

June 2, 2009 - Andrew Potter
I was anticipating Conan O’Brien’s debut as Tonight Show host and it appeared he did a pretty good job Monday. His theme music is similar to his 11:30 p.m. show and it looks his old sidekick Andy Richter is back. O’Brien’s gags were similar to what he used to do at his old time slot and they seemed to work Monday. There was uncertainty whether he had to change things up to appeal to the masses and older crowd he inherits. I say he should continue to do what made him successful. Jay Leno never tried to be Johnny Carson so O’Brien should not try to mirror Leno.
