The big one landed
December 9, 2009 - Andrew Potter
Well, the forecasters got it right - "The Big One" landed with loads of snow, wind and cold Wednesday.
Being a reporter I felt the need to leave the house and try to get the scoop on the storm Wednesday morning. Since there was no way my car would make it out of my block I had to resort to being a roving reporter on foot. It usually meant leaving my house for about 10 to 15 minutes at a time, snapping photos and then sprinting back into the house.
Of course with a foot of snow on the ground when you try to sprint you are basically moving in slow motion.
I went through about six pairs of socks on the day and everytime I made it back to the warmth I had jeans that were frozen solid at the bottom.
The good news about this storm is it will make the 3 and 4 inch storms we get the rest of winter look like child's play
