Casino decision nears
May 3, 2010 - Andrew Potter
May 13 will be one of the biggest days in the history of Tama County. It’s when the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will make a decision on whether the area will be granted a casino license. We all want to know what will happen — including those who run the Meskwaki Casino nearby.
Of course, backers think they have a good shot for the proposed casino but it appears there really is no indication either way if they’ll get one. It’s rare that the future of a community would be put in the hands of a small group of people. So which way will they vote on the four proposed casino sites?
I’m not putting any chips down on this decision — too risky for me.
