Even race on the dance floor

May 18, 2010 - Pam Rodgers

Wow, is all I have to say in the battle between Evan Lysacek and Nicole Scherzinger for the number one spot on Dancing with the Stars this season. The two competitors have to be the closest in talent that I have seen on the show since Emmett Smith and Mario Lopez danced head to head in season three. Next week’s finale is sure to be a fantastic show if the dancing from last night’s semi-final is a good indicator of what’s to come. I have voted for Evan and Nicole all season, and it is fitting that the two should be tied after Monday’s dances. Each danced two spectacular dances that deserved the near perfect 59 out a possible 60.
I have been going into every show during Season 10 never knowing who would win the battle that night. The two have never disappointed me. I can’t say that this has been the best season of DWTS on a whole but these Evan and Nicole certainly are two of the best dancers on the show ever.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba dubbed Nicole the best dance on the show ever, and I think I have to agree. The level at which she does things is incredible. She looks just as professional out there as her dance partner Derek Hough. Even on her lower judges scores, the dancing level was superb to my eye.
Evan is close to the top of my list of the best male celebrity on the show. I don’t know if he is better than Emmett Smith or Gilles Marini but he is definitely on the same playing field. He is the hardest working celebrity I have seen on the show and that has truly paid off in the competition.
The finale show be pure entertainment. They thing I am looking forward to the most is seeing Derek choreograph another free style routine. If it’s anything like the dance he did with Brooke Burke, it will be amazing!
