My favorite Branson attraction
July 21, 2010 - Pam Rodgers
Tonight my family and I attended Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede on our Vacation in Branson. It is just great entertainment. We have been several times and have enjoyed it each time. It is a dinner show that involves live horse entertainment including trick riders and a competition between the North and the South. The meal is great and part of the fun is the lack of silverware making you eat with your hands. It can get messy but napkins and a moist towel take care of the problem.
We always sit on the North side. It’s fun to see all of the beautiful horses skillfully handled by their riders. My mom loves horses, and I’m so happy that she gets to enjoy it again. The South has won every time we have been there except once. But the North was actually winning for most of the time. The final competition, which involves the audience passing a flag from one end of the area to the other, lost it for us in the end.
They have redone the show since I last saw it. The show has three sections: the introduction, the dinner portion of the show and the competition when most of the eating it over. In the past, the dinner portion was themed as a southern gathering. Now, it has a westward movement theme going from the Native Americans to the first settlers to the gold rush. I really liked it. It was a slower pace so you could still eat and enjoy the show. In the past, you could miss some things while the show was going on.
The Dixie Stampede is a great time. I am so glad that I got to attend it for a fourth time. Now I’m excited for the next attraction, the dinner show aboard the Branson Showboat.
