A blizzard for my birthday
February 2, 2011 - Pam Rodgers
Having a winter birthday means that you always have the potential to have a giant, severe, snowy storm on your birth date. While I’m sure it has snowed on my birthday before, none come to mind that top this week’s blizzard. It kind of puts a dent in any birthday plans that I have been making. I guess there is always the weekend.
But my birthday has never been just my own. Sure I know several different people born on Feb. 2, but birthdays are a little different when you are a twin. It was 24 years ago today that Trish and I were born, and now we will have to spend our first birthday apart because of the this crappy snow storm. I knew this day would be coming. Once we graduated and moved on, it was statistically unlikely that we would see each other on every Feb. 2. However, I always thought it would be because we were in different states or something like that because no one hopes to have a blizzard on their birthday (unless you are an Eskimo).
While it’s not the most devastating thing that could happen to us, it’s still a big deal to me. My sister and I have always been close; so, we like to get together as much as possible. I guess that’s why cell phones are the greatest inventions ever because we at least get to talk and text back and forth like we are still in the same room.
So Happy Birthday to Trish Rodgers, who is enjoy a snow day in Chariton! May next year bring a sunny day with no snow!
