Des Moines man accused of killing wife was ordered to surrender guns 2 weeks before shooting

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Des Moines man accused of shooting his estranged wife to death and wounding a police officer during a standoff had been ordered by a Polk County judge last month to surrender his firearms.

Polk County Attorney John Sarcone says under the order, it was Moore's responsibility to surrender the firearms by Oct. 26. It was unclear how Moore obtained the shotgun or how long he possessed it.
