Rebels join Marshalltown in boys poll

Undefeated Gladbrook-Reinbeck has joined the Top 10 of the Associated Press Iowa high school boys’ basketball Class 2A poll.

The 7-0 Rebels stand at No. 10 in this week’s rankings.

Marshalltown remains at No. 10 in Class 4A for the second consecutive week.

The Bobcats won their only game of last week at Des Moines Roosevelt Tuesday, 67-53. Marshalltown’s matchup with Mason City Friday was postponed.

Cole Danielson had 28 points to lead the Bobcats against the Roughriders. The senior leads Marshalltown in scoring at 18.8 points per game. He is shooting 57 percent from 3-point range (16-of-28) for the season. Chanse Creekmur is scoring 14.8 ppg for the Bobcats, while Michael Appel is contributing 14.6 ppg.

Marshalltown return to action Jan. 4 as Waukee comes to the Roundhouse.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck had a busy week last week as it won NICL West games over AGWSR (63-51), Grundy Center (67-38) and Aplington-Parkersburg (71-47). With their 7-0 start to the season, the Rebels have won 29 of their last 30 games.

Junior Brett Bengen leads Gladbrook-Reinbeck in scoring (17.4 ppg) and rebounding (14 rpg). Adam Watermiller adds 16.1 ppg and Scott Benson 13.6 ppg.

The Rebels host BCLUW Jan. 4 in Reinbeck.
